The
AHICF, incorporated in 1987 with the joint initiative of representatives of the French railway companies and members of the University, is dedicated to the history of transportation by rail and their networks, people who build them, the operate and use. It examines, promotes and showcases the many aspects (economic and financial, technical, social and cultural) of the presence of Railways train tickets and rail men in France and in countries of French influence, yesterday and today.


The AHICF mainly gathers researchers from all disciplines of the humanities and professional transport by rail. It is open to anyone who wishes to participate in joint research on the history of the railway world and deepen their knowledge of cheap travel by train.

Paris-Budapest-Bucharest -Istanbul (6 Days / 5 Nights):


The blue and gold carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to Paris are waiting to take you to Budapest through France, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoy the comfort of your night on board.

You spend the next night in Budapest, then you take a guided tour of the city the next day and have lunch before continuing your journey through Hungary towards Romania.

The next day is devoted to the discovery of Bucharest. You spend the night in Bucharest before returning the next day and the train to stop in the beautiful Bulgarian town of Varna. You spend your last night and your last day on board while the train takes you to and approaching Istanbul.



Directions


Friday - The blue and gold carriages of the Venice Simplon Orient Express awaits you in the afternoon Gare de l'Est. After being welcomed aboard by the steward, you sit comfortably in your cabin. In the evening you get a delicious dinner in the dining car before placing your first night aboard.

Saturday - Relax and enjoy the scenery as the train continued on to Hungary. Breakfast is served in your cabin while you are taking your lunch in one of our sumptuous dining cars. On arrival Budapest, you are led to the Sofitel. Dinner and overnight in Budapest.

Sunday - After breakfast at the hotel, take a guided tour of Budapest (lunch included). The city is divided by the Danube into two parts, "Buda" and "Pest." Rejoin the VSOE in the afternoon and will perhaps take a drink at the bar car before dinner. As the train continues its journey towards Romania, you spend another night on board.

Monday - After breakfast, the train arrives in Sinaia, a town in the mountains. You go to visit the Peles Castle as already visited the first passengers on the Orient Express in 1883. Back onboard, you finish your road to Bucharest. You are led to the Athenee Palace Hilton Hotel where lunch is served. In the afternoon, participate in a brief city tour before taking dinner and overnight in Bucharest.

Tuesday - In the morning, you regain the VSOE and cross the Danube as you continue your way south towards Bulgaria. In the afternoon, the train makes a stop to allow you to admire the scenery of this beautiful region. Lunch and dinner are served aboard. You spend your last night on board the VSOE.

Wednesday - The train enters Turkey in the early morning and crossed the plains of Thrace to reach their destination late afternoon. But you've arrived in Istanbul after a fascinating trip through Europe that will have you know that seven countries and cultures.
