The AHICF, incorporated in 1987 with the joint initiative of representatives of the French railway companies and members of the University, is dedicated to the history of transportation by rail and their networks, people who build them, the operate and use. It examines, promotes and showcases the many aspects (economic and financial, technical, social and cultural) of the presence of Railways train tickets and rail men in France and in countries of French influence, yesterday and today.
The AHICF mainly gathers researchers from all disciplines of the humanities and professional transport by rail. It is open to anyone who wishes to participate in joint research on the history of the railway world and deepen their knowledge of cheap travel by train.
